Acceptable Use Policy

1. What Based on Us is

Based on Us turns photos you already own or have permission to use into a stylized, hand-drawn-look comic-book illustration — a personal gift starring the people (and pets) you choose. Every panel is an artistic interpretation: a cartoon rendering in a chosen art style, not a photographic or photorealistic likeness.

What it is not: Based on Us is not a face-swap or deepfake tool. We never place a person’s face or likeness into someone else’s photo, a third-party image, a video, or any scene they weren’t part of. We only draw new, original comic-book artwork of the people in the photos you upload for that purpose, and only in the stylized, illustrated form our art styles produce.

Based on Us is an independent product: artwork is generated with third-party AI models (Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s image models) through our own interface, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or OpenAI.

2. Consent — every person in the photo

Every identifiable person who appears in a photo you upload must have agreed to appear in your comic. If anyone shown is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must have consented on their behalf. This mirrors the promise you make in our Terms of Service, and we mean it the same way here: don’t upload a photo of someone who hasn’t said yes.

3. Prohibited content

You may not use Based on Us to create, or attempt to create, comics involving:

• sexual or sexually explicit content of any kind;
• any sexualized depiction of a minor;
• deepfakes or impersonation of real people, including public figures — depicting someone in a scene, statement, or context they were not actually part of and did not agree to;
• harassment, hate, or content intended to humiliate a real person;
• graphic violence or gore; or
• content that infringes someone else’s intellectual property.

4. Enforcement

Every story, edit instruction and uploaded photo is automatically screened before generation. We may refuse, block or cancel any order that violates this policy, at any stage — including after payment. Where an order is canceled for a policy violation, refunds are handled under our Refund Policy.

5. Report a comic made without consent

If you believe a comic was made of you, or of someone you’re responsible for, without their consent, email support@basedonus.com. We investigate every report promptly and remove offending content.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version; material changes will be communicated on the site.
