Keep 30% of
every comic
you sell

We turn people’s photos and their actual story into a personalized comic book. It sells because the reveal is worth watching and the gift is worth writing about, not because anyone needed more software. You get a code in your name, 10% off for your audience, two free comics to make first, and 30% of every order it brings in, with no cap.

The arithmetic

What you earn per sale

Commission is 30% of the amount the customer actually pays, after your 10% discount comes off. Not a percentage of profit, which you would have no way to verify, and not a rate that quietly changes once the volume gets interesting.

ComicLists atThey payYou earn
12 panels$14.99$13.49$4.05
18 panelsmost popular$19.99$17.99$5.40
24 panels$29.99$26.99$8.10

Ten orders a month on the 18-panel comic is $54.00. A hundred is $540.00. The rate never drops as the numbers go up, and there is no month in which it stops counting while your code is live.

Before you say yes

What you’d be putting your name on

You would be lending us your credibility, so it is fair to know exactly what the thing does first. The honest version:

They see it before they pay

A sample panel and cover, drawn from the real photos, free and before checkout. That removes the objection your audience is going to have, which is that AI will not get the faces right.

From $14.99, paid once

$14.99 for 12 panels, $19.99 for 18 panels, $29.99 for 24 panels. No subscription, no upsell path, nothing recurring to explain in a caption.

Nothing ships

A private share link and a printable high-res PDF. No shipping deadline to miss, no country it does not reach, no courier to blame you for.

It is their story, not a template

They write the beats and pick from 15 art styles, one to four characters, pets included. Art edits and unlimited text tweaks are in the price, so a panel that misses gets redrawn rather than refunded.

Go and look at it the way a customer would: the home page, the wizard (free all the way to the preview), and the refund policy your audience would be covered by.

Steal these

Formats that work

We are not going to send you a brand deck. These are the angles that suit the product, split by whether you film things or write them, and you are free to ignore every one of them. You know your audience and we do not.

If you make video

The reveal is the product. Everything here is built around someone's face when they see themselves drawn.

1Film the reveal, not the product

Make a comic about your own relationship, print it or open it on a laptop, and hand it over on camera. The face is the content. Nobody has ever watched one of these and thought about software.

2Screen-record the preview

Upload the photos, pick a style, and let the free preview draw your actual faces. That moment is the hook, and it costs nothing, so you can film it as many times as you like before you ever buy.

3The gift-panic POV

The anniversary is tomorrow, nothing you order will arrive in time, here is what you did instead. Real problem, real deadline, and the answer downloads as a file.

4Put the pet in it

Pets count as characters, up to four across the cast. The dog panel is reliably the one the comments section quotes back at you.

5Same story, different styles

Run one story through a few of the 15 art styles and cut them side by side. Superhero versus watercolor versus manga is a whole video, and you only wrote the story once.

6Print it and make it physical

The PDF is print-ready. Take it to a print shop, get it bound, and film the object. A physical comic in somebody's hands out-converts any screen recording.

If you write

Gift guides, newsletters, review posts. The first one earns the most for the least work, so start there.

1Add a row to the guide you already rank for

You almost certainly have a gift-ideas post pulling traffic right now. One entry, one code, no new article. This is the highest-earning thing on this list and the least work on it.

2Own the last-minute angle

Most gift guides quietly fail the person shopping two days out, because everything in them ships. A digital gift is the honest answer to “it’s tomorrow”, and that is a post the big publishers keep leaving on the table.

3Review it properly, including the misses

Make one with your two free comics and write what actually happened - which panels landed, which needed a redraw. A review that names a flaw converts better than a rave, and we would rather be described accurately than glowingly.

4Compare it against what you already recommend

Put it next to the photo books and custom portraits in your category. We are the cheapest entry point and the only one that shows the buyer their own faces before payment, so the comparison is worth making even where we lose.

5Write the occasion, not the product

“First anniversary gifts”, “gifts for the couple who have everything”, “long-distance gifts”. Occasion posts age well and keep earning, and a personalized comic slots into all three without being the whole article.

Three steps, one email

How you get set up

1Email us

Tell us where you post and what code you want in your name. No form, no network to join, no approval queue to sit in.

2We mint your codes

Your discount code, a code for your two free comics, and a private dashboard link come back in one reply. Usually the same day.

3Post whatever you want

Make a comic first, then talk about it however you like. Your dashboard shows every order on your code and what you are owed.

The whole agreement

Terms, in plain words

Commission: 30% of every order, uncapped
On the amount the customer actually pays. Not a share of profit, not a tiered ladder, no monthly ceiling.
Your audience gets: 10% off with your own code
A code in your name, e.g. JORDAN10. Say it out loud in a video and it works. Nothing to click.
Free comics: 2, on us
So you can make the thing before you talk about it. Yours to post, or not.
Your dashboard: Live sales and payout
A private link, no login. Orders on your code, what you have earned, what has been paid.
Term: 90 days, renewed
Renewed for as long as you are posting. We do not switch off a code that is working.
Payment: Monthly
We reconcile your code's redemptions each month and pay what is owed. No threshold to clear first.
Creative control: Completely yours
No script approval, no brand deck, no mandatory hashtag beyond disclosing the partnership.
Exclusivity: None
Promote whoever else you like. We are not asking for your category.

And six things we ask

A short list, and most of it is about not paying commission on customers who were already on their way to us. That is what keeps the rate at 30% for the people genuinely bringing new ones.

  • Disclose the partnership. #ad, a paid-partnership tag, or a spoken line — whatever the platform requires where you are.
  • No paid search on our brand. Do not bid on “Based on Us”, basedonus.com, or misspellings of either. Those buyers already found us.
  • No coupon sites, and no pages built to rank for “Based on Us discount code”. Same reason.
  • Do not present yourself as us. No accounts, pages or ads that read as official Based on Us channels.
  • Codes do not stack. Yours cannot be combined with another discount on the same order.
  • Nothing sexual, hateful, or aimed at minors. Buyers are 18+, and our acceptable use limits apply to your content about us.

Our acceptable use policy and terms apply to creator codes too. Break the brand-bidding or coupon rules and we end the code, and pay out whatever was legitimately earned before that.

Fair questions

Before you email us

Do I need a big following to join?

No. A 10% off code converts on trust, not reach — a creator with a few thousand people who came for relationship, gifting or family content will usually out-earn a much larger general account. What matters is whether your audience buys gifts, not how many of them there are.

Is it a code or a tracking link?

A code, and we would rather say so plainly than dress it up. It is both the discount your audience gets and how we attribute the sale, so it works spoken aloud in a video, written on screen, or dropped in a bio, with no click required and nothing to break. The trade-off is real if you publish written work: a code needs the reader to carry it to checkout, where a tracking link would not. In a post, put the code in the link text itself and repeat it next to the price — and know that anyone who uses it counts, whether they arrived from that post, a screenshot, or a friend who passed it on.

I write posts rather than film things. Does this work for me?

Yes, and it is usually less work. The highest-earning thing most publishers do here is add one row to a gift guide that already ranks — no new article, no camera. Digital delivery is also the honest answer to the last-minute shopper your existing guides quietly fail, since nothing in them arrives in time. See the writing formats above.

How and when do I get paid?

Monthly. We reconcile the orders placed with your code, apply the 30%, and send it however suits you. There is no minimum you have to reach before we pay, and the amount owed is on your dashboard before we send it, so you can check our arithmetic.

How much is that per sale?

On the 18-panel comic, the one most people buy: it lists at $19.99, your audience pays $17.99 with your code, and you earn $5.40. The 24-panel version pays $8.10. Commission is on what the customer actually paid, and no cap applies to how many orders count.

Do I have to sign up to an affiliate network?

No. There is no third-party platform, no separate account, and no dashboard login. You email us, we mint your code and your free comics, and a private dashboard link comes back — usually the same day. Every extra signup step is another place people quit halfway, so there are none.

How long does my code last?

90 days to start, renewed for as long as you keep posting. If it is producing sales we are not going to switch it off — the term exists so codes from people who tried it once and moved on do not stay live forever.

Can I try the product first?

Yes, and you should. Two free comics come with the code specifically so you can make one about your own life before recommending it to anybody. If it does not impress you, do not post it — that is a much better outcome for both of us than a flat video.

What happens if a customer asks for a refund?

Commission is calculated on paid orders, so a refunded order comes out of that month's payout. It is rare: every order includes art edits and unlimited text tweaks, so the normal fix for a comic somebody is unhappy with is redrawing the panel, not undoing the sale.

30% of every order, no cap

Two free comics come with the code, precisely so you never have to recommend something you have not made yourself.
